CFBS Political Advocacy of Science Award was presented to Dr. Aubrey Tingle, University of British Columbia, Vancouver, BC by Dr. Bruce Sells, CFBS Executive Director at the First Northern Lights Summer Conference, CFBS 47th Annual Meeting, June 2004, Vancouver, BC.

Dr. Aubrey Tingle is a distinguished clinician-scientist who has brought new vigor into the biomedical scientific community in BC and throughout Canada as a result of his outstanding leadership in the development, launching and stewardship of the Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research. His vision and interactions with government have been key to the recruitment of a large number of outstanding new scientists and trainees to British Columbia, to the promotion of partnership programs with Genome BC/Genome Canada and to the fostering of innovation in health research through the creation of infrastructural research support programs.
