Dr. Jon Gerard, winner of the first CFBS Science Advocacy
Award that was awarded at the 42nd Annual Meeting, Winnipeg,

Dr. Jon Gerrard worked in office as the Minister
of State for Science and Technology, working from
the perspective of a health researcher and physician,
has had a positive impact on science awareness
and ongoing plus new support for research, innovation
and technological development in Canada.

CFBS Award for Political Advocacy was awarded to Honourable
Reg Alcock, MP, Leader, Liberal Party of Manitoba,
during the 42nd CFBS Annual Meeting, Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Mr. Reg Alcock worked in organizing the "Ministers
of University Riding Constituencies" group, and
his personal interest in cardiovascular research, have
had a positive impact on science awareness and
ongoing plus new support for research, innovation and
technological development in Canada.
