Gordin Kaplan Award
The CFBS has created an award to be given
to a member of the Federation who has contributed significantly
to public awareness of science. The Gordin Kaplan Award commemorates
the contributions made to public awareness of science by the
late Gordin Kaplan. Canada's Research-Based Pharmaceutical
Companies, previously known as "PMAC" has sponsored the Gordin
Kaplan Award since 1990.
Request for Nomination:
A committee of four, including three scientists
and a representative from the Canadian Science Writers Association
(CSWA), review the files of individuals nominated for the
Award and recommend a winner to the CFBS Executive. Each nomination
must be signed by three members of the Federation. Nominations
should include a resume of the nominee's contributions to
public awareness of science, a current curriculum vitae, and
letters supporting the public awareness efforts identified
in the resume. Nominators are encouraged to include letters
from non-scientists in their dossiers. The Award winner receives
a cash honorarium of $1,000.00 plus expenses associated with
attending the CFBS Annual Meeting. The CFBS Annual Meeting
