 The
Excellence Award was presented by Dr. Alvin Shrier, CFBS
President, to Dr. Peter Anderson, CFBS Past President
for his outstanding contributions to CFBS over a number
of years.
Peter Anderson has been involved at the executive level
of CFBS since 1995. As Honourary Secretary from 1995-1998,
he was part of the group that helped get CFBS through
some rough times.
 As
chair of the Program Committee from 1999 to 2001, he
contributed to the reorganization of the Annual Meeting
into a more focused format that has helped CFBS attain
a degree of financial stability and recognition as a
showcase for Canadian biological research. He also chaired
the CFBS Awards & Grants Committee and served as
the CFBS liaison for the AstraZeneca Research Award
and the Burroughs Wellcome for the Visiting Professorships
from 2000 to 2002. He became President Elect in 2000
and served as President of CFBS in 2001-2002 and Past
President 2002-2003.
He remains active as a Professor of Biochemistry at
the University of Ottawa contributing to teaching, research
and a variety of administrative functions
