CFBS students and Post Doctoral
Fellows Travel Awards
Purpose - to provide support for CFBS students and Post Doctoral Fellows
(members of CFBS) to attend the Sixth Northern Lights Summer Conference
(52nd CFBS Annual Meeting) in University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, MB.
Selection Criteria - Awards recipients are selected based on:
- The scientific quality of the submitted abstract
- Only one travel grant per laboratory
- The student and the supervisor must be members of a CFBS society
Award - Each Travel Grant Award is $ 500, unrestricted to use to attend
the Sixth Northern Lights Summer Conference. The Sixth Northern Lights
Summer Conference Program Committee will make the final selections for
the Grant. A maximum of six grants will be awarded annually. If a grant
recipient cannot present the accepted poster, the grant money must be
returned to CFBS.

(membres de FCSB) à assister au 52e Congrès Annuel qui se
tiendra du 17 au 20 Juin, 2008 à Universite de Manitoba, Winnipeg,
MB.
Critères de Sélection: les prix seront choisis en se basant
sur:
- La qualité scientifique des résumés soumis.
- Un seul prix de voyage par laboratoire.
- L'étudiant et le superviseur doivent être membres d'une
société de la FCSB.
Prix: Chaque prix de voyage est de $ 500, non limité à
être utilisé pour assister au 52e Congrès. Le comité
de programme du 52e Congrès décidera de la sélection
final des prix. Un maximum de 6 prix sera accordé annuellement.
Si le récipiandaire du prix ne peut pas présenter l'affiche
acceptée, l'argent du prix doit être remis à la FCSB.
Societies Travel Awards: Please complete the online registration/
abstracts form. Indicate your nomination choice and CFBS will forward
the nominated abstracts to the Society Awards Councils.

The student or their supervisor must be a member of CAANCB/ACANBC
to be eligible to apply for the following Awards:
1. CAANCB/ACANBC Travel Awards:
CAANCB/ACANBC annually provides two travel awards to help graduate students
in anatomy, neurobiology and cell biology attend the CFBS meeting to present
their research. These awards valued at $400.00 each, are sponsored by
the CAANCB/ACANBC Chairs. Electronic submission of the abstract along
with cover letter to the Awards Committee Chair is acceptable hbergen@ms.umanitoba.ca.
2. CAANCB/ACANBC CP LeBlond Research Presentation Awards Competition:
Two awards are given to the graduate students (1 Ph.D., 1 M.Sc.) that
present the best oral platform presentation at the annual meeting. Students
interested in competing for this award should indicate their intent at
the time of online submission of their abstract through the CFBS website.
Indicate that the abstract is intended for the CAANCB award competition.These
awards are valued at $400 each and are sponsored by the CAANCB/ACANBC
Chairs.
The purpose of this competition is:
- to stimulate the development or and excellence in the quality of graduate
student research conducted in anatomy, neurobiology & cell biology
and
- to support and stimulate the student experience in the delivery of
a scientific paper.
A number of abstracts will be selected for CP LeBlond Research Presentation
Awards Competition at the CFBS 52nd Annual Meeting. The CAANCB Awards
Chair will notify the presenters.
3. Arthur W. Ham Graduate Student Award:
Presented to a Ph.D. student who is an outstanding student in the field
of anatomy, neurobiology or cell biology as indicated by scholarships,
fellowships, awards, etc. The recipient should be the senior author or
contributor of at least 2 publications (excluding abstracts), and have
made at least two presentations at scientific meetings. Students who have
recently graduated or are expecting to graduate in the current calendar
year are eligible. This award is sponsored jointly by Lippincott Williams
& Wilkins and the CAANCB/ACANBC Chairs.
4. Research Publication Award of the CAANCB/ACANBC Chairs:
This award is valued at $250 and is presented to a graduate student who
is either sole author or senior author of an article judged to be the
most outstanding publication of original research in the field of anatomy,
neurobiology or cell biology within the past year. The application consists
of a nominating letter(s) and a copy/reprint of the publication.
